An observer is a MeshCore radio connected to a small computer with internet access (for example a Raspberry Pi). It listens to the network and reports received packet metadata – who was heard, signal strength (RSSI, SNR), number of hops – to a server.

MeshCore node → LoRa → Observer → internet / MQTT → MeshCore Asia

From the data of many observers, the platform will show the live network map, statistics and the actually measured coverage.

Status

The observer system for MeshCore Asia is in preparation. Before we publish a setup guide, we are studying the existing open-source tools for this, so observers here stay compatible with the wider MeshCore ecosystem.

Private messages are never decrypted – only network metadata is used.
