MeshCore runs on many LoRa boards, for example from Heltec, RAK Wireless and LilyGO. The current list of supported devices is shown in the official flasher.
What to look for
- Frequency band. Buy the variant that matches the frequency allowed in your country (e.g. 868 MHz or 915/923 MHz versions). Check the frequency profile of your country first.
- Use. For a personal companion, a small battery-powered device is ideal. For a repeater, choose a low-power board that can run 24/7, ideally with a solar panel.
- Antenna. The antenna matters more than the board – see Antennas.
Never transmit without an antenna connected – it can damage the radio.
